Three Men and A Little Lady

Image
Thanksgiving Day was spent in Austin this year.  The WHOLE Family.  We stayed in a Hootel (per Eli), ate Thanksgiving dinner at Buca, visited the State Capitol, and then came time for THE GAME! We only have four tickets.  It was planned for Jay and Rod to join Mike and I.  However, Ava wanted to go to the game.  Who could say no to that request?  And so, Three Men and A Little Lady headed to DKR Memorial Stadium.  And it was COLD! Here they are heading to the game.  They really don't look prepared for how cold it was going to be.  But there were other jackets and also blankets in the car.  Orange and white blankets, of course! Isn't our Little Lady cute?  I think she had on four layers.  And she still looks cute!  And she was so excited that she was going to the game! Once at the game, I am told they stood in a long line to get Kettle Corn, and then Popcorn because the Kettle Corn was too sweet.  Our seats are lower this year, so at least it wasn't quite

Meet Miss Rebolledo

Image
Miss Rebolledo was due on October 9.  We seriously were not expecting her before then.  We got back from vacation on September 21.  Jenni came home on the 25th from the Drs. office with an "any day now" prognosis.  We still did not believe.  But, like good Grandparents, we had our "Go Bags" ready in case indeed she came early.  Oh, by the way, we did not know the name at this point, so we called her Baby Lucy (after Lucy Ricardo). The plan if Lucy came at night:  when we got "the call", grab the bags, head to Jenni's, and go back to bed.  If we got "the call" during the day, pick up Abby and head back to our house. So, at 0400 on September 30, we got "THE CALL"!  Jenni had been having contractions, minor ones, the evening before, so we weren't too surprised.  And yet we were!  And So Excited!  All we grabbed was the iPads, the chargers, and headed over.  Abby slept through it all, including the dog barking when we got there.

Judi and Mike Get Married!

Image
Do you know what you were doing 42 years ago around 4:30 p.m.?  Well, I do!  Mike and I were about to be married.  It's kind of funny, that the guy I laughed at when he tried to kiss me the first time, is the guy I ended up with for 42 whole years!  But that's another story. We were two college kids trying to pick a date that didn't interfere with classes.  We got married on a Saturday, honeymooned in Dallas on Sunday and Monday, and went back to classes on Tuesday.  Not like how weddings are done in this day. Mike and I picked the Presbyterian Seminary Chapel, right on the edge of campus, for the wedding.  It reminded me of my childhood in England.  And a bit of a chapel or two in the Air Force. Most girls have their wedding all planned out in advance, or so I hear.  I never did.  Our wedding was very simple.  The chapel was decorated enough by itself.  We just added candles -- which we forgot to light until the pictures after the ceremony.  Pictures?  Well, there we

Minnesota Time

Image
We love going to Minnesota to be with family every summer.  We may see each other on Facebook, but it is not the same as having fun together in a Little Cabin in the Woods.  The front of the house is deceptive.  I couldn't get the whole length in without using Panorama, which for some reason did not occur to me.  Of course, I could have taken it from further back, but then you lose details of the new enclosed front porch, which is really nice!  There are actually three levels to this cabin, and you can only see the top and middle floors here.  Mike and I live in the basement for our week -- where it is really cold!  I love it, Mike uses extra blankets.  :) Mike and I usually drive up to Minnesota.  In years past, this was a much longer drive!  Thanks to the interstate (and higher speed limits) this is not so bad any more.  We always plan on stopping in West Des Moines.  Last year, we learned our lesson.  We never make a reservation, and we could not find a hotel until we go

It's All About Eli!

Image
Time to talk about the child in the middle!  Eli is just the best kid there ever was!  He is so grown-up that we sometimes forget he is only three!  So smart.  Eli went to get ice cream with Mike and I at McDonald's recently.  I just had to take a few pictures of his ice cream face!     Eli has been the best eater of the family!  There is nothing this kid will not eat.  Of course, now that I say that, he will become a picky eater!  He actually loves to eat raw onions.  His Great Pop used to eat raw onions like an apple, only with mayonnaise on each bite.  Eli loves his Pop.  Here they are hanging out during VBS.  (I know this is all about Eli, but Miles is in the doorway over to the left :) )  Eli has become quite adventurous.  It may be hard to tell what he just climbed, but it is really not that easy to climb for a three year old!  It requires taking some pretty big steps.  He saw it as a challenge and did it over and over again!  Jenni, Jay, an
