"Now Somewhere in the Black Mining Hills of Dakota....

...lived a young man named Rocky Raccoon."  I always thought that song said "South" Dakota.  Are there Black Hills in both Dakotas?  I'm sure I don't know and am not really going to take the time to find out, no matter how easy it is with Google, Bing, etc. After Cabin Time, This set of Worleys, young and old, headed for those Black Hills.  We were going to see Mount Rushmore.  In South Dakota.  And to see anything else that struck our fancy.  So we struck out in our trusty Jeep and Mini-van, loaded with kids and snacks.  On July 30.  We saw lots of motorcycles as we went.  Lots. Of. Motorcycles!  Come to find out, it was the start of the annual Sturgis Rally.  In Sturgis, SD.  If you do not know what that is, feel free to Google it! Our must stop place was Wall Drug Store.  In Wall, South Dakota.  We stopped, we ate, we shopped around.  It is a lovely place to spend a lot of time walking around.  After we had been in the car all day, it was nice for the

Nisswa Turtle Races!

What would a trip to the cabin be without the Nisswa Turtle Races!  I do not know how long these have been going on, but I do know it has been awhile since we have had kids young enough (and old enough to enjoy) to participate. This was the 52nd Annual Nisswa Turtle Races summer.  It ran from June 3, 2015 through August 19, 2015.  It was offerred only on Wednesdays.  They provided the Turtles to race.  We had to get there early to register, by 1 p.m.  The races started at 2 p.m.  And what fun it was.  They did the races in "heats" of maybe 20 turtles at a time.  It went really, really fast.  And it needed to----our kids numbers started around 190! This picture was taken earlier in the day.  No one is around.  We had no idea that the Turtle Races were so popular!  We should have, because we have been here before.  But....selective memory!  Remember only the fun parts!  One few of the line that ensued.  It's hard to tell, but the line stretches way around

Cabin Time 2015

Oh, the joys of traveling to Minnesota!  By car.  Or two cars.  Three adults, one teen, and three kids.  It is so different than traveling with just me and Mike.  So fun!  The kids were all troopers.  They amused themselves with movies, coloring, singing, and sometimes....(fill in the blank)!  Here is Car Two as they started on our journey! Eli is four years old.  This was a great adventure to him.  So everything we did was special, I think. He was now tall enough to clean the back windshield of the Jeep.  And he did it thoroughly!  And had so much fun doing it. Once at the cabin, the kids all had so much fun swimming in the lake.  I'm afraid I only captured Ava and Cassidy during swim time.  They had on swim vests, but the water wasn't that deep where they were.  They literally appeared to fly off the dock into the water! Mike Spurgeon always has something fun for the kids to do.  This year it was walking on a rope.  It was so much fun to watch.

It's almost that time.  The wonderful time we get to spend in Minnesota each year.  Many thanks to John and Patty for hosting us all these past years.  Here are a few pictures of times past.  There are a LOT of pictures to go through, and yet I don't have all of them (lost some pictures a few years back.) WARNING Will Robinson!  LOTS of pictures below.           Recognize these kids?  Cute!             Ava's first trip to the cabin.                                                               Ava's Second trip to the cabin.
