The Last Home Game -- November 2010

Image
One of the most memorable games we attended last year was the Texas/ Texas A&M Game in Austin.  These games are always interesting, always fun, because Jenni is an Aggie and we are not!  The games in the last few years were moved to Thanksgiving night instead of the afternoon on Friday after Thanksgiving.  It has never made sense to me to play a game after dark in November!  And this year, it made even LESS sense! Through the kindness of one of my friends, we were able to stay at the Omni Southpark in Austin.  What a wonderful hotel!  And you can get free Starbuck's delivered to your room!  Very comfy bed.  Free water.  Free robes to use while we were there. The robes were comfy, too.  We mainly just admired them hanging in the closet. I think that this game was the coldest game I have every attended.  When we first arrived in Austin, the temperature was in the 50's.  By the time we got to our seats, the wind chill had it below freezing.  We knew it would be cold, but

Christmas Eve at Jenni and Rod's

Christmas Eve dinner this year was at Jenni and Rod's house for the first time.  Rod's family always has steaks for Christmas dinner ( it is summer in Chile), so we have continued that tradition since Rod has been in the states.  Jay and Sarah usually spend Christmas Eve with her family.  And of course this year was special because it was little Eli's first Christmas! Jenni and Rod had recently purchased a new table and chairs.  She sets a lovely table, doesn't she? Do we look like we are ready for a banquet?  Well, we were!  I really wish I had taken a picture of the food, too.  You can just barely see it on the table.  The steak was prime rib, loaded mashed potatoes, salad.   We used the ceramic napkin holders that my mother made for me many years ago.  It was good to continue the tradition. Not too much to tell here.  Just a lovely evening hosted by my wonderful daughter and her husband.  The food was wonderful, and we played a Chilean card game after dinner.  Now

Elijah James Worley

A lot has happened since the last post.  I have plenty of pictures to prove it.  Ahhh, someday perhaps I will post them, along with the rest of the pictures from France (from Sept 2009!).  For now, I will just concentrate on the most important event in the Worley family in 2010, the birth of Elijah James Worley on December 18! Jay called us Friday evening (December 17)  to tell us they were going to the hospital.  He sent texts through the night.  Finally the call that little Eli was here!  He and Sarah were hungry!  So we stopped by the Raven for some breakfast tacos!  Here is Hannah wishing them well! Jay and Sarah had a plan this time!  So, Ava got to meet her new baby brother before anyone else did.  She was all dressed up in her new Big Sister shirt that her clever Mommy had made her.  She even had a Big Sister bag full of surprises. We actually did not stay long, but long enough for all of us to hold Eli ( or as Ava says "Baby Eyi") Our first picture of all three
