Jay's Birthday

Jay's birthday is December 5. We celebrated tonight at home, with one of Jay's favorite meals. We had homemade stew and Grammy's Spoon Bread. (Of course, his favorite meal is Beans and Cornbread, which Sarah fixed for him on his actual birthday.) We had a nice relaxing meal. And Ava blessed us with lots of smiles and coos. No pictures tonight. Just mental pictures of a family gathering together. And memories of when we had dinner with Mom and Pop or Grammy and Granddaddy when our kids were little. I hope they get a window from heaven to see precious Ava. And to see how much Jay loves Sarah and Sarah loves Jay. Yes, I am tearing up at the moment. I am feeling so very blessed tonight. God has been so good to us. He blessed us with children who have always made us proud, and now he has blessed us with a grandchild. The adventure continues! "Your goodness is so great! You have stored up great blessings for those who honor you. You have done so much for those w

Miss Ava Elizabeth Worley

With all the excitement of having Jenni and Rod here, I have not posted any updates on Baby Ava. She is doing great. Keeps on growing. I still don't see her eyes very often. She still mostly eats and sleeps. So mostly I get to admire her cute outfits. I thought I would add some recent pictures of her while Jenni was here. And of course, I have to start with Ava meeting her Aunt Jenni! Here is the happy family being presented at church the first time Miss Ava was there. Our church family spends a lot of time praying for pregnant moms and healthy babies. So we also spend time welcoming them and saying a special prayer of thanksgiving and blessing for the baby and her family. Don't they all look cute! That's Larry Gray doing the blessing. We have had a lot of babies lately in our church family. This is our Preacher's wife, Patricia Nunley, with Serenity, our youth minister's wife, Feydra Gorsline with London, and of course, our personal favorite, Sarah with Miss Av

The Adventures of Jenni and Rod in Texas!

It has been a long time since I posted! Lots has happened, which is why it has been so long! We have been very busy going places with Jenni and Rod for the last 3 weeks! Jenni and Rod arrived Saturday, October 27th. They were the first ones out of customs at 0700! And they still had a busy day ahead of them! After dropping off baggage and changing into Longhorn Orange and White, which I don't seem to have a picture of, we all headed to breakfast at our favorite place, The Raven. Our friends Becky and David Broom met Rod and Jenni at the airport with us, and joined us for breakfast, too. Miss Ava came and brought her parents Jay and Sarah, and my sister Nancy and her husband Greg. Again, no pictures, and I am sure I am forgetting someone! Then we headed to the Texas game in Austin. By the time the day was over, we were all very tired! Their second day was a Sunday. So of course, there was church. Miss Ava brought Jay and Sarah, too. Everyone was very excited to meet

Ava is Two Weeks Old!

This is the view I mostly get when I go to visit Ava. She is always asleep! She is very pretty when she sleeps. She is filling out. When you hold her, you can actually hear her breathe! Okay, that is probably not unusual, but she is so tiny, that when I hear her breathe, I am amazed at the sound. I am also amazed that I can "feel" her breathe through my hands as I hold her. It is surprising the things you have forgotten to marvel about when your kids are grown! Now a picture of the proud Dad and proud Pop. Mike looks so much more relaxed in this picture. He has been able to hold Ava a lot in the last two weeks. He just got back from a seminar in South Carolina. First thing he did when he got home was call Jay and find out how Ava and Sarah were doing. He can hardly wait to see her tomorrow! As you can see, the two grandmothers are pretty happy about this new arrival. We are both ready, willing, and able to spoil her as much as we can. Susan was so lucky to be able

MEET AVA ELIZABETH WORLEY!!

Here she is! Our first grandchild! What a surprise! She was four weeks early! Jay woke us up around 6 am Sept 30 to tell us they were at the hospital, and it was for real! They were in labor! He told us to go back to sleep, go to church and call them later. Like we could go back to sleep! We waited about 30 minutes, then called Aunt Jenni. The First Family Photo! Jay, Sarah, Ava It was quite a day! Jay, Mike, and I had all been to the UT game the night before. It rained, we got soaked, the Longhorns lost. We had to drive home wet. By the time we had taken hot showers, it was getting late. Jay and Sarah didn't go to bed until around 1 a.m. they tell us. Sarah got up to go to the bathroom around 3:30 a.m., her water broke, and the long day began. Ava was born about 11 hours later. Ava is so tiny! She weighed 5 lbs. and was 17 1/2 inches long. She came out face up, so her pretty little nose got flattened a bit. She is so delicate! Tiny little fingers and toes. And lo
