The Front Door!
Currently, I am afraid of my front door. Although Jenni and Rod put up all the Christmas decorations in the house, I keep forgetting to change the front door arrangement. It is now February.
It was the middle of January before I really realized the front door was still Poinsettas and ivy with Christmas packages. Luckily, you can't really tell that from a distance. The next morning, as I was leaving the house, a bird flew out of the door arrangement. That was a little startling.
Later that night, when we headed out, TWO birds flew out of the door arrangement, causing Mike and I to duck. We knew one headed into the house. We searched the house high and low (literally), but could not find the bird. I slept a little fitfully that night, wondering if the bird was going to light on my face during the night.
Rod and Jenni came the next day, and the bird miraculously appeared and flew out the door. So we thought this episode was over. Did I change the door arrangement? Of course not. But what are the chances of that happening again?
Then last week, Bird again gets in house. Again, Mike and I could not find it. We looked harder this time. Another night sleeping with a bird hiding in the house. I am used to it by now.
Rod and Jenni come over the next day, again. Jenni opens the door, sees something walking on the floor in the living room, and Rod says, "screams like a girl." I don't know what they did to get the bird out, but Rod finally got it outside. (Jenni also found a lizard in the house last fall. She was reaching into a basket drawer in a desk, and there is a lizard, a pretty big lizard, staring up at her. Rod said she screamed pretty loud -- he thought she had been hurt, he comes running, and rescues the lizard. It's a wonder she didn't scare the poor thing to death.)
Time to conquer my fear and change the door arrangement!

my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the strength of my salvation,
and my stronghold."
