Thanksgiving -- Family Style!

This year it seemed we all had places to be on Thanksgiving Day -- but not together! So, we had Thanksgiving Dinner on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

We all got to help cook! Emylie got to help with the sweet potatoes. Her most important job was guarding the marshmallows until it was time to put them on top of the sweet potatoes. I think she ate a few, too. And after dinner, I know she had "coffee" with marshmallows in it with her Aunt Katie.
Rod was first to get started mashing the sweet potatoes. We all consider him to be our best cook.
Jenni and Katie helped season. I know we had at least one stick of butter in them, and who knows how much brown sugar. They were VERY tasty! Rod did a great job -- and we found out later he really didn't like sweet potatoes!
Bryon was in charge of the Turkey. Well, Nancy cooked it, but Bryon cut it all up for us. A very time consuming job. Not too easy, since hungry people kept trying to get bites of turkey! I brought the Green Bean Casserole and a Pecan Pie, which both turned out to be very good! My sister did an outstanding job on the dressing, mashed potatoes, and gravy. We think we used at least a stick of butter on the mashed potatoes, too! By the time we got everything ready, we realized we didn't have a whole lot of butter left for the rolls!

Mike and Greg had the enviable job of watching Zoe the dog and also the Football game. It looks like Zoe settled in with Mike. Greg was the same pose -- just different chair and minus the dog. The kids who took this picture thought Mike and Zoe looked the funniest.

Emylie also helped us watch Ayden when he got up from his nap before lunch. Love their outfits!

I really did not take enough pictures! After lunch, we all got to look at the Christmas pictures of the kids. Katie is looking at them with Emylie.

It was a fun, and relaxing, afternoon. We got to visit with family, eat a lot ... and eat some more! My sister is a great cook and a wonderful hostess.

I give thanks to my God."
