Jay's Birthday

Jay's birthday is December 5. We celebrated tonight at home, with one of Jay's favorite meals. We had homemade stew and Grammy's Spoon Bread. (Of course, his favorite meal is Beans and Cornbread, which Sarah fixed for him on his actual birthday.) We had a nice relaxing meal. And Ava blessed us with lots of smiles and coos.

No pictures tonight. Just mental pictures of a family gathering together. And memories of when we had dinner with Mom and Pop or Grammy and Granddaddy when our kids were little. I hope they get a window from heaven to see precious Ava. And to see how much Jay loves Sarah and Sarah loves Jay. Yes, I am tearing up at the moment.

I am feeling so very blessed tonight. God has been so good to us. He blessed us with children who have always made us proud, and now he has blessed us with a grandchild. The adventure continues!

I have had so much fun catching up with the Worleys on your blog. I didn't even know Ava had been born till I checked Jenni's blog. I'll check more often from now on! Hope y'all are doing well--sure looks like it!

The Wedding -- the only one we will ever host! Why didn't we have more girls? This was fun! Above, of course, Dad dancing with Bride Jenni. They had fun, didn't they? But of course, this was the reception, we are supposed to have fun! The week before the wedding was a whirlwind of last minute activities. We had guests from Chile at our house -- Kani - Rod's friend from childhood, and Cristian -- Rod's brother. We also had Lindsey -- Jenni's bridesmaid and friend of Rod from Chile. We worked on wedding stuff and ate way too much! Decorating the church was actually easy -- we had lots of help. We decorated on Wednesday evening. On Thursday, we finished up by adding trees to the auditorium. And, dumb old me, I have absolutely no pictures of it! I can only hope our photographer took some! Advertures in Dining with Ava

Isn't she cute?!! Here we are, at breakfast again! With Ava and Elmo. She loves Elmo! She has more than one. She has Elmo bibs that she likes to put on, too. She has Elmos socks, Elmo jammies, Elmo shoes, and an Elmo blankie, among other things too numerous to mention. She gets excited about Elmo and Abbe in books, too. Did I mention she likes to feed Elmo? Here he is, enjoying a big bite of Biscuit! So, Elmo asked us to give Ava a lemon! We do get together a lot to eat, so most of our pictures are going to include food. Ava was finished eating, so she decided to climb on her high chair. And we let her. Anything to keep her entertained. Then she found Grammy's finally very organized purse. I bought a purse organizer 'cause everything kept getting jumbled up. Ava Is One Years Old!

Ava is now a one year old. Jay and Sarah gave her a Party in the Park. She was so cute! Don't you love her bow! We had hot dogs, guacamole, chips, dips, and of course, birthday cake! Ava and Sarah opened the presents. Most of them were in boxes/sacks that were bigger than Ava. Ava actually got into taking out the tissue paper, and reading the cards. And what girl doesn't need a longhorn Happy Halloween shirt! Ava's cousin Emyle helped deliver packages to be opened. That was her job at Jenni and Rod's wedding shower, too. She is quite good at it. Cousin Terri got the honor of writing down who gave Ava what! Thanks Terri! Do you have Carpal Tunnel syndrome now? Ava really didn't know what to think about her cake. Sarah helped her blow out her candle. A short video on Ava learning to eat cake with her hands. As you can see, it did not take long to get the hand of it!
