MEET AVA ELIZABETH WORLEY!!

Here she is! Our first grandchild!

What a surprise! She was four weeks early! Jay woke us up around 6 am Sept 30 to tell us they were at the hospital, and it was for real! They were in labor!
He told us to go back to sleep, go to church and call them later. Like we could go back to sleep! We waited about 30 minutes, then called Aunt Jenni.

It was quite a day! Jay, Mike, and I had all been to the UT game the night before. It rained, we got soaked, the Longhorns lost. We had to drive home wet. By the time we had taken hot showers, it was getting late. Jay and Sarah didn't go to bed until around 1 a.m. they tell us. Sarah got up to go to the bathroom around 3:30 a.m., her water broke, and the long day began. Ava was born about 11 hours later.

Ava is so tiny! She weighed 5 lbs. and was 17 1/2 inches long. She came out face up, so her pretty little nose got flattened a bit.

She is so delicate! Tiny little fingers and toes. And look, she is brand new and already smiling at her daddy! We think she looks just like Sarah, except her eyes are blue right now.

Ava was born at Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital. Same place her Pop and Great Uncle Pat were born. She is starting a new tradition!

Ava was very tired when she arrived. And so was everyone else!

We were able to visit with Jay and Sarah during the early part of her labor.

She looks so relaxed here. And very happy.

(Between contractions, of course)

I couldn't resist snapping this picture!

By this time we were all in the room admiring and holding Ava.

Sarah by this time had eaten a wonderful meal from Macaroni Grill.

She couldn't resist taking pictures of it all, either!

The two Grandfathers! Sarah's dad, Terry Reale, has had more practice than Mike!

Okay, this picture may seem strange. This is Jay's arm with the bracelet that matches Ava. It has her birthdate and time of birth on it. And of course, has Sarah's name on it, too.

I can still remember Mike wearing a bracelet pretty much like this one when Jay was born. It was just so awesome to me that this was now Jay wearing a bracelet for his little girl. And since he and his Dad have the same watch, it is REALLY memorable.

When Jay first came out to tell us Ava had been born, we asked what time she was born. Jay was so excited he hadn't noticed. But it was right there on the bracelet.

Here she is, snoozing while we all stand around and admire her.

"You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex. Your workmanship is marvelous, and how well I know it."
Psalm 139: 13-14

We are truly blessed!
