Devon Worley Concert!

We were so blessed to be able to fly up to Minneapolis for The Devon Worley Concert this May!
Devon is our great-niece, and one of the most talented young ladies you will ever meet. She is only 11 years old, and already an awesome performer!
Sarah told us to rent a cool car. This was as close as we could get! It was fun to drive around in! And also comfortable!

We arrived on Thursday, so we would have plenty of time to rest up for the concert on Friday night. This was May, right? It had been in the upper 70's in Minneapolis earlier, but not the weekend we were there! Definitely sweatshirt and jeans weather! We were so lucky to be able to stay with John and Patty! Darbi and her boyfriend, Kel, came in for the concert, too. Darbi was Devon's back up singer. Lots of singing talent in the Worley family!

Friday, we went shopping! Mike deserved a new pair of jeans! We found an Applebee's nearby and had lunch. While waiting to be seated, we noticed that a uniform from Pat's Karate school was on display! That afternoon, Darbi and Devon had rehearsals for the concert. So, the rest of us cheerfully headed to the movies! Got to see Iron Man 2. Great movie!

Time to go home and change for the concert! It was getting colder outside. Here's Mike!
We were excited to be going to the concert! And to add to the excitement, we were given VIP passes! Never had those before! Aren't they cute?
On the way to the concert, it started SNOWING-- big white flakes! I have never seen snow in May before!
When we arrived, Devon and Darbi were still on stage for rehearsal. They had on the cutest "Devon Worley" t-shirts! I bought one for Ava, Sarah, and Jenni! Pictures to come of that later! That's Darbi on the left and Devon on the right!
And a close up of the star. Wearing her t-shirt!
We went to dinner at the restaurant where the concert was held. Afterwards, I went backstage to get a picture of the Darbi, Devon, and Kelly (Devon's dad and Darbi's brother.)
And I could not resist getting a picture of the proud parents, Kelly and Jamey Worley.
I tried, but failed, to get a recording of some of the songs during the concert. There were so many amps on stage, all you can hear is a lot of background noise. So I posted a video from you tube right above this post. I do have some pictures of the performance, though.

Beautiful Darbi!

A great time had by all! This concert was a fundraiser for The Shriner's Hospital. And all proceeds went to the Shriners. Great event!

The rest of the weekend, we visited with family. We had a family gathering Saturday night at Jamey and Kelly's house. And Sunday, we went to a restaurant named "Brasa" for lunch. An organic place. They had no diet drinks, and the Dr Pepper was the smallest bottle I had ever seen -- made in Dublin. The Coca Cola was a huge bottle, made in Mexico. (And this was not the land of free refills!) It was good ole family cooking, too. Beans, cornbread, greens, spinach, brisket, chicken and gravy, and the list goes on. Served family style.

Sunday night was dinner and a movie with John and Patty. All too soon Monday came, and it was time to fly home! It was a wonderful weekend! And we're going back the end of July for a week to escape the Texas heat!

but the Lord directs his steps."
