Adventures with Ava

A picture of my favorite granddaughter sitting on her favorite spot -- the dog bed; only this time she happens to be sitting with Sadie. She is sharing her Elmo blanket.

Wednesday we had a treat! Ava was at our house for the afternoon and evening! Jenni and Ava played during the afternoon. Watched Barney, and a few other shows, played with her cars, and evidently played with Sadie, too! Aren't they cute? Pictures courtesy of Jenni.

She was staying with us that evening so that Jay and Sarah could go to the Dallas Symphony's performance of Pink Floyd music. I was excited to get home to have some time with her before church. We open the door, and see Ava standing by the coffee table. We both say "Hi Ava!". Ava looks up, gets very excited, throws her arms out wide and starts running towards us. I am just bending down to scoop her up, but she yells "POP!" and runs right past me into his arms. I just stood there with my jaw dropped! First time for everything! But it was very sweet. She basically ignored me for a few more minutes, and then finally came over and gave me a a big hug, too.
Ava's other favorite activity at our house is jumping on the couch. I keep a ton of pillows on it -- basically so there is no room for a dog to get up there and sleep! Ava thinks these are to play with. Apparently she had a great time throwing them all on the floor. By the time I got home, Jenni had helped her put them all back. She came up and sat on my lap while I was sitting on the couch. The next thing I know, she stands up and literally launches herself into the air and lands in the middle of a pile of pillows on the couch. It was amazing and scary to watch! Then she announced "I'm hungry!"
We headed for our favorite Wednesday night eatery -- Taco Bueno. Ava had not been there with us before. We were heading to church after this, so we took a bib with us. So you are seeing Ava wearing one of Jay's bibs from childhood. She had a great time eating the chicken out of her chicken soft taco. Then tearing the tortilla up into little pieces and eating them. She had her first Lemonade, too.

She was very grown up at church. She walked right into her class and sat down at the table and did not look back. No problem. I was going to take her picture sitting at the table when I came back to pick her up, but she saw me first and came running over.

Home again. Time for a bath. Ava asked for "Bubbles, please." She played with her trucks in the bath tub -- who knew the Tonka Chuck cars liked to swim? We washed her hair, too. When she had her jammies on, she let Pop comb her hair. And fifteen minutes later, she was in bed, saying her prayers with Pop. All in all, a great time!

"Your goodness is so great!
You have stored up great blessings for those who honor you.
You have done so much for those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world."
Psalm 31:19
