Adventures at Chuck E Cheese
We are so fortunate to spend time with Ava every week! We enjoy exploring new things with her. We had a lot of fun taking her to see Alvin and the Chipmunks on New Year's eve. We have enjoyed going to McDonalds and Chick Fil'A to play on their playgrounds. So, we decided we were ready for a new adventure! When Ava came over last week, we asked her what she wanted for dinner. She didn't even stop to think, she just said "Pizza!" And that is how we ended up at Chuck E Cheese on a Saturday night!
The first hurdle was just getting in the door! Slow moving line! But necessary. We finally got to the front of the line, and got our arms stamped. Ava did not like this at all! Mike had to hold her and I had to pull up her sleeve and hold her arm out for the stamp! Afterward, Ava thought the stamp imprint under the light was OK.
Mike headed to the line to order the pizza. I love the fact that they escorted us to a table so that we did not have to hunt one down after ordering. So Ava and I played while we waited. Of course, we had no "game card", so we just enjoyed playing.
The carousel was right next to our table. Ava got to sit on the ponies, but the carousel was broken, so it never went around.
Of course, there was a slide! Ava has no fear of slides. She went down every which way--
She looks so long in these pictures! I cannot believe how big she is getting!
The Gorilla was the first "ride" Ava went on. She was not sure she liked the fact that it moved. However, we told it was ok, and she actually liked it! She wanted to ride again!
Finally, Pizza came. We felt like in control grandparents! We were all having fun! And the pizza was great! However, Ava now wasn't hungry! She really wanted to play more. But she did manage to at least eat the toppings off the pizza and drink her milk. Then it was Mike's turn to play a while. That's when we lost Ava! Mike took her over to the crawling thing that goes up around the ceiling. She climbed up the slide and disappeared.
This is where she went in. It looked pretty steep to us. We really did not think she could climb it!

This is the back view of her climb to the ceiling.
And this is the view of where she ended up -- traveling all around the ceiling of the room! We would see her walking by various windows and could track her progress.
Oh, and by the way, there is no real way to lose her, thank goodness! The entrance to the play area (what do you call these things?) was directly beside the exit -- so no way she could get out without us noticing! She went in the exit, so of course she came out the entrance! She missed all the fun of the big slide!

After that adventure, she got to ride a horse. This horse did move, and she really liked it.
And what would a visit to Chuck E Cheese be without adventures with Barney!
What an amazing amount of energy this girl has! And how smart she is! She figured out quickly how to buckle her own seatbelt each time. You slide your game card through that white box you see in front of her. She learned to slide that through the slot all by herself! Soon it was time to leave. Surprisingly, Ava would not let them look at the stamp on her arm! But she was happy enough to let me pull up her sleeve. Thank goodness! Or we might still be there!
When we got home, we changed her into her jammies, and it was time to watch Elmo with Jenni and Rod in their room. Aunt Jenni knows all the cool channels on video on demand. By the time her daddy got here to pick her up, she was sitting with me on the couch cuddling and watching a race car cartoon. All in all, a great evening!
"As for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me,
and my God will certainly hear me."
